PSYCHIATRIC CONSULTATION
In order to provide the best medical care for our clients, the Institute for Essential Change (IEC) has a consulting relationship with psychiatrists in the community who specializes in treating addictive disorders. When appropriate, our treatment team may recommend that an individual client meet with a consulting psychiatrist.
A psychiatric consultation is a comprehensive evaluation that can help our treatment team understand the sources of clients problems from three points of view:
1. Biological (i.e. heredity, hormones, nutrition, physical illness)
2. Psychological (i.e. current life stressors, childhood experiences)
3. Social (i.e. cultural differences, family relationships, prejudice)
